WHAT IS A BORESCOPE CAVITY WALL INSULATION SURVEY?
A borescope survey is an optical tool designed to check the effectivity of your cavity wall insulation, which is not visible to the naked eye or easily accessible.
Borescope cavity wall checks yield on-the-spot results and play a central role in evaluating how well insulated your property is.
New build homes can come in a variety of different types of cavity installations, ranging from blown polystyrene beads to system built kingspan panels. Regardless of type, new build homes that are left unchecked are vulnerable to both voids and thermal bridging; often resulting in draughts and sky-high heating bills.
*GetSnagged carries out borescope checks on traditionally built block and brick new-build houses, but not on timber frames, as this has the capacity to penetrate cavity membranes.
Will borescope cavity wall insulation checks damage or mark my walls?
No! GetSnagged surveyors are richly experienced in conducting borescope checks with negligible evidence of any intrusion. We will drill into the mortar of the brickwork, (gathering any mortar dust along the way to keep everything nice and clean), before sending in the borescope camera to start inspections of minor and major voids.
Weatherproof sealant is added once the borescope checks are completed to fill the small hole created, to ensure your new home remains spotless.
How much does a borescope cavity wall insulation check cost?
For just £25 extra, your GetSnagged specialist will spot check cavity walls in the corners, and even your garage roof, if there is a bedroom above at risk of poor insulation. We are proud to offer the lowest rates in the market for this essential service.
Can I combine borescope cavity checks with a thermal heat loss survey?
Yes! As thermal snags take place between November - February, feel welcome to add on your borescope inspection. Borescope cavity checks can also be added on as an extra to standard and revisit snags.
